KRLA and the non- Rand Paul endorsement scandal

I took a break from this political drama in the last two days. This is getting more upsetting to me and hits me to the core. It offends me as a mother, a catholic, a pro-lifer, an American and most importantly, a Kentuckian. A fellow Kentucky blogger has investigated this matter and an AP press release shows that Rand Paul doctored(from his original faxed and mailed copy) the questionnaire to KRLA(Kentucky Right to Life Association). The question is not even what his beliefs are in regards to abortion. I have discussed these before and I am dead set against his brand of life legislation. Do I trust a man who would leave a question blank, then put in writing that he received a 100% rating from KRLA(when in fact he did not) and try to cover up his indiscretion with a smear campaign against KRLA, a well respected pro-life organization in Kentucky. I have to include the facts presented by Graas, who said it well(regarding why Paul was not endorsed by KRLA):
Further, he wouldn't have been endorsed even if he filled it all out because (1) he's never served in political office, (2) he's never been active in the pro-life movement though he's traveled the country giving speeches on war and fiscal issues, (3) his opponent has served in office with character, (4) his opponent has served on the board of a crisis pregnancy center, (5) his opponent was endorsed in the past, (6) he's made public statements saying he is unclear on whether he would vote to keep the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and (6) he's promoted the morning after pill as a positive good for society.

This story has been covered in C-J.com, lifenews.com, USA Today and cincinnati.com. This is not a minor issue. It is a game changer, or should be if you are concerned about someone being honest and the lives of the unborn.
I'm not going to elaborate anymore on this issue. It is most important to those in KY because our commonwealth is being taken by this fraudster who will do and say anything to get elected. He even masks it by a statement on Israel yesterday(while his father voted last night against sanctions against Iran...kack)
Okay, I'm worn out. I will keep praying that those in KY, the state I love, will wise up and learn the truth about this man. He is not who he pretends to be. I hope they learn quickly.

Kentucky State Senate Approves Ultrasound Bill

Kentucky State Senate Approves Ultrasound Bill Helping Women Avoid Abortions

For the second year in a row, the Kentucky state Senate has approved a bill that would allow women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby prior to an abortion. When used in pregnancy centers ultrasounds persuade as many as 80 percent of women to not have an abortion.

Well it took place.

Pope meets Pelosi, speaks of Church teachings on life

Benedict "took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church's consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death," the Vatican said in a statement.

Sigh. In one ear...

You, my dear lady, are no Catholic

NANCY'S GUN SHOW

PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY

Congressional Democrats' "Stimulus" Bill Includes Taxpayer Funding for Contraceptives, Abortion Industry

Next to the pope, Boehner is my hero. Excellent Catholic example. He is the anti-Pelosi. As my son would say, he is an arch enemy!(of Pelosi, etc).

Can we funnel this info to the Vatican? Pelosi apparently can't be rehabilitated so can't we start a petition to get her butt excommunicated? She is an embarrassment to Catholics everywhere. I have prayed for her, many have. It does no good.

NANCY'S JAZZ HANDS.(I know, perfect for liturgical dancing. We will have to find others.)

Facebook. It's testing my faith

Here's the thing. I have met some great blog friends(commenter's and blog owners) through Facebook. That is a positive. It has become an extension of my blog. Here is the crap part. In the last week, I have seen how many people support abortion. It turns my stomach. I just added a new one to my list this morning. Yesterday, it was my sister-in law, last week, a friend in college. Today it was a designer friend of mine. Yes, I have been vocal about my pro life stance and posting articles about Obama and the dealings in Washington. It is important to me and my Catholic friends have read and commented on my findings(including my husband). But as a "touche" some people have decided it would be fun and make my skin crawl if they joined the cause "Planned Parenthood" or put that their favorite bumper sticker is "keep the US out of my uterus(misspelled on her posting). It's the ugly side of good vs. evil. In my ignorant days, I was a feminist and held these beliefs. They are not totally foreign to me. I know how people get there(through ignorance and lack of grace). Does it change my opinion of them? Yes. I can't change the way I feel. I think most women who support abortion(especially after having children) have either had one in the past or have unresolved feminist anger in there. Either an unhappy marriage, feeling abandoned, hatred of their own body or having a severe hate complex toward men.
So this leads me to a crossroad. I either drop them as a Facebook friend(which I have already done with some in laws), stop posting any causes near and dear to my heart(save them for my blog), continue posting them to hopefully have an impact and sway them toward the truth or just get the heck off Facebook.
Facebook can be a great tool, albeit addictive, when you have people like those of us Catholic bloggers all on there as one. It can also be deadly when it comes to family, marriage and re-connecting with old classmates. Does the good outweigh the bad? I am still out on this one. I have seen a very ugly side to some people in my family and they may now say the same of me. I don't think I have any big cover-up going on(with those I know). I am and will always be a devout Catholic and hold dear all the traditions and social causes my faith teaches. But my passion has apparently rubbed some the wrong way. They were perfectly cool with having an abortion(the ones I know of never went on to have children, even after trying). How am I to be sensitive to that knowing they don't regret their abortion(or at least they want to appear all strong and puffed up about how there is no regrets). I do feel I need to back off Facebook, regardless. The one thing I can say about blogging is that I don't constantly have trolls coming here on a daily basis. Yes, I have had them, but that is what comment moderation is for. It is my blog. If you don't like what I am saying or have and opinion, say it respectfully and I will post it. If you want to resort to threatening me or being crass, start your own blog.
Anyone has the right to free speech in this country. But on Facebook, you will find out more than you want to know about some people. It is just weird to be thrown into a soup of people who not only don't agree with me but feel they need to throw the feminist abortion rights ball in my face. That's a very ugly place to be. If you had an abortion, years ago, and now as a married responsible adult, cannot bear children, where does that leave you? With no regrets? Or guilt? Or utter sadness? Or more angry and hate-filled toward the pro-lifers. I suppose it can go either way. Hating pro-lifers is easier because it takes the burden and guilt off you.
Regardless, I will pray for these women. We all should. It is the dirty side of our cause. While I feel obligated to present the truth, it has consequences. Loss of friends, family and past relationships may be it. And the truth about Facebook is that it rids us of human face-to-face contact. We become more emboldened to say who we really are. For some, who they really are isn't very pretty. I think the social networking sites will cause more damage to our society in the end. They work when it is all with people whom you share opinions. They get nasty when you have every religion and political agenda in one big mess. So that is my dilemma for the week.
(Eww. Sorry for the really long post, I got carried away).

Amen, Chuck

I'm voting for those not yet born

As my friend and prolific author Randy Alcorn wrote, "Abortion has set us on a dangerous course. We may come to our senses and back away from the slippery slope. Or we may follow it to its inescapable conclusion – a society in which the powerful, for their self-interest, determine which human beings will live and which will die."

Good commentary.

Have you seen this lie machine?

Obamama Tax Machine

This is a stinking lie. Everything I have seen shows we are getting our taxes hiked under him by about 18%. Since we do not qualify for any credits(college, green stinkin cars, et all) we just have to hand it all over. How about giving parents with autistic children at least a free steak dinner, Mr. Obamama.

Just for fun, I put in Joe the plumbers possible income:

You will probably not get a tax cut under the Obama-Biden plan.

Yeah, well, not here.

No Compromises: Kansas State Bishops Declare Voting for Abortion Candidate is "Evil"

"Such acts are judged to be intrinsically evil, that is, evil in and of themselves regardless of our motives or the circumstances. They constitute an attack against innocent human life, as well as marriage and family," state the bishops.

"In light of the above we would commit moral evil if we were to vote for a candidate who takes a permissive stand on those actions that are intrinsically evil when there is a morally-acceptable alternative."

Amen!

Would that such truthful and hard-hitting statements be spoken from our turf in Kentucky...

His pay grade? WTH?

Obama says pointed abortion query “above his pay grade”

Asked at what point a baby gets “human rights,” Obama, who strongly supports abortion rights, said: “… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.”

That has to go down as one of the dumbest answers to a serious question, ever. And then, rumors swirling he is choosing Kerry as his veep? Ish.

Religion not of convenience

The question is how we reconcile what is true with what is merely convenient? That we might choose a path other than the pope’s is the prerogative of a free people — and no one recognizes that freedom with greater consistency than this pope. No one has to be Catholic.

But to ask Benedict to change the church’s rules to suit modern appetites and lifestyles is to ask that he forsake the sanctity of human life for the benefit of earthly delights. Those are not his concerns.

Even for non-Catholics like me, there’s something comforting about a stubborn pope in a world of moral relativity. Like a strong father, he ignores his children’s pleas for leniency knowing that his rules, though tough, serve a higher purpose.

Excerpt from ‘Out of Step’,In praise of criticism.
By Kathleen Parker

Read article, and Fr. Z comments here: NatReview: Kathleen Parker - In praise of criticism

This does give food for thought. If all modern life and society's values can, at a moment's notice, become irrelevant, then is it not logical to cling to a faith that does not change in order that one's life may have meaning and a clear set of tenets for living? If that is true, then why isn't everyone Catholic? There is something so secure about a faith that has been give to us, by God, that we have been told "even the gates of hell shall not prevail against it".
I agree with Father Z. The crux of the article has a powerful message. I pray that some of the pro-aborts may be touched by Christ, working through our Holy Father. What a different country the US would be if we were all pro-life.

What a maroon

Obama on birth control:

SENATOR OBAMA: I've got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I'm going to teach them first of all about values and morals but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16, you know. So it doesn't make sense.

Makes any woman trying to conceive angry, does it not? Punish with a baby? Punish me, punish me! Someone needs to slap him and his drones for such ignorance. Why, O Lord? Is that the best the dems could muster?

Please, please don't NOT vote this November, vote against a man who not only doesn't believe in the sanctity of life but thinks babies are a punishment(from who, God?). Scary as hell, the man is. There are worse things than having McCain as our leader.

Creepy

Kentucky Abortion Practitioner Jailed for Alleged Medicaid Fraud
A Kentucky abortion practitioner has been jailed on charges that he wrongly billed the state for abortions he did at his private abortion center in Lexington. Hamid Hussain Sheikh was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center Tuesday, according to Corey Bellamy, a spokesman for the state attorney general's office.

This makes my skin crawl. As if it's not bad enough that he is a baby killer, he is ripping off the government(and has been for years) on our dime. Evil.

Planned Parenthood? Unethical? Imagine that...

Largest Abortion Center in the U.S. Refused Permission to Open - Court Rejects Suit

How long would investigating that an LLC filed for a permit for a general "clinic" rather than an abortion mill? It would be a miracle if they permanently closed down this death chamber but a wonderful sign from God. I can only imagine the people praying for this place to go away forever.

Related: SIMPLY AMAZING: Fox News Special Details Planned Parenthood Abortion Mill Deception, Concealing Rape etc

This is from a Chicago Tribune article I found on this event:

Frankly, I'm surprised we were able to keep it a secret for so long," said Steve Trombley, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area.... "We didn't want anything to interfere with the opening...."

That the clinic was kept hush-hush for so long was no accident. Planned Parenthood adopted the strategy after a 2004 boycott by contractors stalled work for two months on a clinic in Austin, Texas....

Here are some other pro-life reads and a site I found this morning. As a pregnant mom, I'm feeling more militant than my usual pro-life self.

Just odd but typical

Joseph Biden: a frank and abiding faith

"There are elements within the church who say that if you are at odds with any of the teachings of the church, you are at odds with the church. I think the church is bigger than that."

And then this:
"I was raised at a time when the Catholic Church was fertile with new ideas and open discussion about some of the basic social teaching of the Catholic Church," Biden says. "Questioning was not criticized; it was encouraged."
He recalls a question in a ninth-grade theology class at Archmere. "How many of you questioned the doctrine of transubstantiation?" the teacher asked, referring to the teaching that the bread and wine change into the body and blood of Christ during the Eucharist. No hands were raised. Finally, Biden raised his. "Well, we have one bright man, at least," the teacher said.

I think this part is my personal fave:

He told them that while he personally opposes abortion, he would not vote to overthrow the US Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that gave women the right to terminate a pregnancy. Nor, however, would he vote to use federal funds to fund abortion.

"I don't think I have the right to impose my view – on something I accept as a matter of faith – on the rest of society," he writes in his autobiography.

Another cafeteria Catholic who wants us to call him one of our own. It's nauseating. How can you be that "faithful" and that wrong about Church teaching? I don't think you can.

Michael Vick and PETA

Michael Vick Should Have Invested in Abortion, Not Dog Fighting
I agree. While I am a dog lover, how is it PETA can be so on fire for the protection of animals and yet none of it's members are champions in the pro-life movement? (grumble, grumble, granola crunchers)

I'm actually shocked no one has a paid advertising spot on late night TV on how you can get rich quick in the abortion market. Wrong is right and right is wrong. God help us.

Ancient Tomb Found in Mexico

Ancient Tomb Found in Mexico Reveals Mass Child Sacrifice

The dating on this is fascinating. What I find shocking is that people are SHOCKED by this because it is a human sacrifice of innocent children for a pagan culture. Not unlike our own culture that sacrifices children through abortions so women can still go clubbing and live the lifestyle they choose, free from the worries of parenthood. Pagan.
Evidence suggests the children sacrificed to Tlaloc were in very poor health when they died and that the sacrifices were not punitive, she added.

Children of "young age and greater purity" were "more powerful mechanisms for the petitions of the living," Ardren said.

Nothing really changes, does it?

Cincinnati Planned Parenthood in hot water

Lawsuit claims Planned Parenthood didn't report abuse
This could be a step in the right direction legally for opponents of the Cincinnati based Planned Parenthood. Why would the woman in question proceed with this case if she didn't tell them and they did nothing?
Under Ohio law, doctors, nurses, teachers and other professionals are required to report suspicions or claims of abuse to the authorities.

This case should be interesting to follow and will hopefully produce change in the way these "cover-up abortions" are so freely done.

This is also interesting:
Planned Parenthood has appealed a judge's ruling requiring it to release records of abortions performed on patients under age 18. In that lawsuit, the family of a 14-year-old girl claims she was able to get an abortion without parental consent.

Hmmm...
