10 Surprising Things

Ok, here it goes. I am sure this will be all over the place so I suppose you can make fun. I had fun reading everyone's lists.

1. I am an architecture/history buff. I love thinking of buildings in their heyday and pouring over historical event sites. I wanted to be an architect like my grandfather when I was young.

2. I studied directing, acting and eventually costume design in school. I sometimes miss the family spirit of the theater but realize my conservative leanings would have never blossomed in that environment.

3. I obsessed with etiquette and manners. I stopped dating boys after the first date if they had horrid manners(or grooming). Now I just drive my family nuts.

4. I hate northern climates. I mean really hate. Naked trees and grey slushy crap upsets me.

5. I used to break dance and was in a group in high school. I also won a Madonna look-a-like contest during this same time period(dated myself there, huh?) I even had the slight gap in my teeth.

6. I will talk to someone and leave out details that are important because I assume they know(when they have no clue). Hey, I know what I am talking about! Do they really need to know? Haha.

7. I love old school country music. I love artists that invoke the original charm of country music without getting into the pop/rock realm.

8. I live with post it notes, to-do lists, white board charts and forced organizational aids. I have to know what is on the horizon always.

9. I love scotch.

10. I was almost cast in the movies "A League of Their Own" and "Dogfight". I was called back but would have had to take a semester off school. The other movie they called me for final casting while I was away for Thanksgiving break.

Coincidence?

So I am driving home from the grocery and a business that always has quippy signs outside read:
"Evil cannot be disguised"
Hmm. Went up after election. Hmm.
Now the photo above, totally unrelated, can be captioned if you are bored. Shocked he let that get out and not his college records. How much you want to bet this guy gets put out of business now that Obama has taken over?

Confuse-edd

This weekend, we went to a parish we had visited before but it was, well odd. I am *hoping* this was a first Low Mass but I can't be certain. The servers were being trained prior to Mass so I am leaning that way. The music and placement was just out of left field. They used the St. Francis Peace Prayer song during the offertory, Gift of Finest Wheat during communion and the recessional was America the Beautiful. My kids looked at me like I knew what was taking place. I did not. The patriotic hymn really threw me for a loop. Yes, it was a Low Mass, yes it was entirely in Latin and otherwise genuine to the 1962 Missal. I didn't notice others feeling something was odd so who knows. I pray the EF Mass with my family to avoid the schmaltzy hymns. Now what? Unfortunately, there is no other church that offers the EF in this city. I know, things could be worse. I think this was my first experience with an EF being wicketty-whack so I was taken aback. I used to look forward to this church too(after being raked over the coals by my in-laws every visit) and I think the general feeling is just "bummed". Oh, and before they had an EF at this parish, the music was always reverent, traditional and beautiful. So they had traditional hymns in the NO. Sigh. Who knows.
