Cancelling a local TLM

I heard it was announced last Sunday that the TLM by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter at Sacred heart in Cincinnati will be no more. Since this is new information, I am not sure if they are leaving the diocese/that parish or if the Mass itself is actually ceasing. I can't comment on how I feel because I only have this small bit of information. Any locals hear the full story?

i heard a rumor that the fssp felt stretched with all the driving between parishes and would have preferred a full-time parish...guess the diocese didn't want to give them one?

Sadly, it is true that the Priestly Fraternity is withdrawing their presence from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. They did request a full time parish, for which they were turned down. There is a desire to continue to have the two current Classical Form Masses currently held in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. At this point, it is not certain who will be celebrating these Masses once the FSSP priests focus their efforts elsewhere, as of January 1st, I believe. I know this because I have had calls from both parishes to see if I would be interested in helping out. While I am, I do not have the expertise (yet) to be able to celebrate the Mass. I hope to rectify that as soon as possible.

I knew that they were denied entrance into the archdiocese. But do you know what the reason was Fr. Kyle? This makes no sense to me and I see it as a way for the archbishop to suppress the TLM by not having a parish(es) that is full-time TLM and traditional sacraments not to mention that FSSP's homilies are far more in-depth and traditional then anything I have ever heard in any Novus Ordo parish ever. There is no doubt that if they were allowed in the TLM would grow and so would traditional practices, catachetics, etc.

Alexander,

I know that the decision was made in consultation with the priest's council, and that there were reasons given. I do not remember all of the details, except to say I think you answered your own question.

Sigh. I would have really liked the FSSP here.
