Yoga and Catholic opposition

Bishop's yoga ban is a stretch, parishioners say
This latest news story raises some interesting points. While I commend the bishop for addressing this practice which is intrinsically opposed to Catholic belief(She said the bishop simply felt yoga — or any other activity — shouldn't run concurrent with a spiritual service.)
, the priest's response baffles me.
Lussier did not return phone calls to The News-Press. The only indication of his feelings comes from his March 25 message in the church bulletin: "Unfortunately, many people who benefited from this health service will be deprived because of the few who objected! The squeakiest wheel gets the oil!"

For information on why yoga should not be part of any Catholic's life(let alone be practiced in a church chapel!) this link will be helpful:
Yoga -- Health or Stealth?
It is written by a former New Age "healer" and is quite involved reading as it goes through the various forms and historical movements of yoga.
Regardless, the part of the original news story of the woman going and sprinkling holy water on them is funny but I agree with her. The worst part was this "class" of 65 was going on DURING daily Mass! What does that teach? You will get more out of yoga than attending daily Mass? So frustrating. I took yoga in college as an easy credit and dropped out because I was so bored. So much for that.

Huh? I'm going to have to read that article. I've done Yoga 4 Fertility, and when the instructor references "Mother Earth" and stuff, I just let it in one ear and out the other, but the YOGA itself I really like!!! All the stretching and twists are really good.

I never knew any of this until years later(after college). I always looked at it as excersize until my conversion back to the faith in my 20's. The story from the former yoga instructor is long but very interesting.
