Oh. My. Word.
Why on earth would you do the faux-Lord's Prayer ala Protestant version, for the Holy Father? Kathleen Battle is wonderful and all but someone didn't do their research. I suppose it could have been worse, they could have performed "Amazing Grace" or even worser "On Eagle's Wings". Ha ha.
Bush did quote St. Augustine and spoke some, er...Latin. That was nice. Got to go. Pope Benedict is speaking.

Pope’s Visit Cheers Young Conservatives Who Reject ‘Cafeteria Catholicism’ in Favor of the Full Menu
Such young Catholics’ strict obedience to the tenets of their faith makes them an anomaly in their generation. Only 14 percent of Catholics ages 20 to 40 attend Mass at least weekly, according to research by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University, and just one in five goes to confession once a year or more.Like Catholics of their generation, young conservatives grew up under the liberalizing changes to the church brought on by the Vatican II Council in the 1960s, but some rejected those reforms as they reached adulthood.
Paulitz, 32, remembers "lots of guitars and banjoes" at church services and priests who had fallen away from church doctrine.
"I felt uncomfortable about it constantly," he said.

Hope

One bright item in the near future is the Holy Father's arrival in the US. Regardless of the venue or reason, the fact he is coming here and cares about the Catholic Church here is reason for hope. I'm always in such awe of the Holy Father and his ability to lead with consistency and historical fervor. For the first time in my "Catholic life", I feel a connection with the Church throughout time. I never felt "that" as a child, a teen or my college years. There was a disconnect. Looking back, it was a different church or religion in that my beliefs and the beliefs of those around me were very passive and had with a focus. It is not a matter of nostalgia, I was not old enough to remember the pre-VII church. My faith now permeates my life and my decisions, it is not just when I am at church on Sunday. So, yeah, I'm excited. We may have a "Pope Party" like we did when my boys were toddlers during the St. Louis visit. We made cool hats and ate polish food. We may not be able to top that.

Prayer intentions for the Holy Father
Washington DC, Apr 2, 2008 / 04:54 pm (CNA).- With less than two weeks left to go before Pope Benedict arrives in the United States, the rector of the National Shrine, Msgr. Walter Rossi, is offering people the opportunity to participate in evening prayer with the Pope by sending him their prayer intentions.
During his visit to Washington D.C., Pope Benedict XVI will tour the Great Upper Church and celebrate a private Evening Prayer with the United States’ bishops on Wednesday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m. (EST).
The event is closed to the public, but Msgr. Rossi is offering people the chance to have their prayer intentions to be remembered at the Solemn Vespers by the Holy Father.
Submit your Prayer Intentions to be included in the Papal Evening Prayer
