Grrr...
My mother is a Dominican who meets with her fellow Dominicans at a local parish. She was informed that her "group" isn't welcome there anymore because they don't "do" anything for the parish. I think that translated means "give us lots of money". It is a small group and they don't take up much room or scheduling so honestly, I don't get it. I just feel bad for her because I have to believe there are many parishes that would welcome such an orthodox, committed and prayerful group. I pray they will find another home. The things that go on in some parishes(in this diocese) never cease to amaze me. What floors me is there is a local VOTF group that meets at a local parish with no problem. Also scouts(I'm not equating scouts with VOTF, don't yell at me) and other more secular groups. It's not like Dominicans are crazy banshees that worship a voodoo god. If you are a Dominican and reading this(even if you are not), say a little prayer for this group.

sheesh, can't they join the group at St. Gertrude's?
This is the Covington group. I think they go there on occasion. It's just pathetic and sad.
I think I know which group this is, and I am praying for them. I heard Father talking about the possibility of driving groups like this and was saddened. I hope that my prayers will help to find them a home possibly at St. Bernard, though I know some are older and can't travel that far. Fr. DeVous would very much support and encourage 3rd Orders in his parish!
Pax Domini,
Michael
St. Michael one who the Dominicans have taught about for so long defend this group in the time of their need. I pray that the Lord grants them a home that will inspire their works of Charity, which is consistent with your teachings and desires to see the Church Triumph in Your Glory through these most faithful workers in your vineyard.
Yeah, this diocese is not "order friendly". What is most interesting is that members of this group are very active and helpful to the parish. CCD, Foresters, Altar Society....
It is just the Dominicans are not a money group and therefore "not important". They were interogated for even being at church last week. It breaks my heart. Thankfully, my parents busted out of this city. They are moving to Campbell County at the end of May. We are planning the same...we have no reason to stay now.
Document, write up, appeal to Rome.
That sounds really unreasonable. Some of these things I hear about how things are in other dioceses and other parishes are hard to believe. I'll say a prayer they find a place.
