And the spiritual attack of the month award goes to...

Here is a brief update on our boys:
In recent weeks, our family has been attacked(and I mean that in a literal sense) by ugly and hate-filled neighbors. I needed to calm down a bit because it was so "out-of-no-where" and demonic. Basically, if my boys are outside and my husband and I are not around, a demonic neighbor here will "take them out". My kids have been staying inside. They made slanderous statements about their autism and disabilities. Therapists and doctors are trying to help us overcome this new hurdle. One of the therapists that works with the boys said he saw major regression last week in the behavior and self-esteem. If you are asking why the police aren't involved, well, we went that route. Since there was no punches thrown or blood spilled, they chose not to get involved. We are on our own. I shouldn't say that. It is only by the grace of God that we are able to leave the house everyday and find strength. I have been busying myself praying for our aggressors. I pray that God touches them and changes their heart. This is not something I have any control over. I have put it in God's hands. I am, however, over-protective and cautious. I don't know how else to be right now.

O LORD my God, in thee do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me, lest like a lion they rend me, dragging me away, with none to rescue.
O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, if I have requited my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, let the enemy pursue me and overtake me, and let him trample my life to the ground, and lay my soul in the dust.
Arise, O LORD, in thy anger, lift thyself up against the fury of my enemies; awake, O my God; thou hast appointed a judgment.
Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about thee; and over it take thy seat on high.
(from Psalm 7)

Are they just saying things, or actually coming on to your property?

If it's the latter, you should still be able to get a restraining order against them. It may not help much, but perhpas send them the message you are serious about defending your family and getting law enforcement involved if possible.

I wish I could offer more advice. They are horribly cruel and I'll join you in praying for them.

As a mother, you really cannot be "over-protective" about something like this.

The police came but other than talking, did not get involved. They had the nerve to say "You should have called your home owners association about this first". There was an incident with some neighbor boys involved in destroying our "association" property but, the police didn't take the other part of the issue seriously. This all went down at the base of the cul-de-sac, in no one's yard. The police said they couldn't do anything until someone went on someone's property. Might be too late by that time...

Lived on Main Strasse for two years. Are these the same sorts of people who celebrate the Fourth of July from April to October? It sure sounds like it...

Man, we only have ONE crazy neighbor and he only videotapes us through his front window. I get the funny looks and the "kid counters" now and then, but my neighbors are really wonderful. I wish you had some good, holy, friendly people move close to you. It's hard enough having to deal with disabilities and all of the other, regular problems of life without having to deal with rude comments and abusive statements from ignorant people. "Love your neighbor"? If only!

Hmmmm....even if the local constabulary refuses to get involved, it sure sounds like grounds for a CIVIL harassment suit to me, not to mention civil rights violations, namely disability discrimination, which violates most state constitutions. If you can demonstrate a pattern of this behavior (which the police reports can help you do, sounds like), I think you should consult with someone to find out what you can do. Check with your local education/ special ed law firms. Even if you decide not to pursue it, it will give you peace of mind to get the info.

And yes, absolutely do check with your HOA - read the bylaws carefully to see if there's anything like a non-discrimination clause or policy expressed in them, and if so, file a complaint with the HOA board.

SMACK THOSE BULLIES RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES!!!
