Interesting. Seriously.

I actually had to go back and re-read and read slower. Confusion surrounds stricter rules for Mass

"The Vatican wants the host placed directly into the mouths of the faithful so they don't touch it (with their hands)because many don't even realize they are receiving Christ and do this with scant concentration and respect," Archbishop Ranjith said.

The distribution of communion on the hands has been widespread since Vatican II.

However, Ranjith said the practice was "illegally and hastily introduced by certain elements of the Church immediately after the Council".

Darn tootin' it was. Sadly enough, nothing will be done as it is not going to involve changes. These things will not "work themselves out" and I think they know that. Changes that are slow are good. I think "how" and "when" to change are the only questions. And maybe if it will be headed or ignored...
Anyway, it was an interesting read.

They always told me in RCIA that the Catholic Church takes a long time to change. Now that I've learned the ropes somewhat I'm beginning to notice that change is only slow when it's in the right direction.

Allowing altar girls was adopted over night as I'm sure it was for extra-ordinary ministers of Holy Communion.

CITH needs to go...the faster, the better :), but i'll be patient and just ban it at Agnus Dei Church in the meantime.

I've been receiving on the tounge for a while now. I am trained as an extrodinary minister, tho' I haven't been able to assist much recently with a little one in tow. DH and I have started to go to separate Masses due to his volunteer schedule (some weeks he's at church from 8am until 1pm, far to long for our 1 year old) so I have been available to jump up when there's a need. Last time I went up, I tried to receive on the tounge, but our priest gave me a look that bordered on mean/fed up and waited until I held out my hands (since I didn't want to hold up Mass, I did this pretty quickly). But still, this threw me for such a loop! I'm glad our extraordinary ministers are much more willing to distribute to me.

God Bless!
