Summer music
Do you have a song that always reminds you of summer or the beach? I'm trying to get some music for the trip next week. I'm a big Jack Johnson fan and have 2 CD's(including the Curious George soundtrack). I'm just looking for something different or interesting. Any suggestions? I tried to find a decent Reggae CD and something wonky happened to that genre. It went kind of hip hop. Anyway, any suggestions are appreciated.

"Walk Like an Egyptian" by the Bangles. Sad, I know... and I'm showing my age too... but for some reason it makes me think of summer!
Huey Lewis and the News and also the Cars make me think of summer. Also showing my age, must be about the same as mac, lol.
Ooh, those are good ones. I'm still compiling. I made a hard rock CD for my dh. I'm more old soul when it comes to music.
Hey Lily... GOOOOOD choice... especially the Cars. I listened to "Drive" while waiting for exam results...
Yup, we've gotta be about the same age. The Cars make me think of college. :-)
I love Jack Johnson, and he's got two CDs which are the soundtracks to his films (he makes surf movies) and they are HOT awesome.
"Thicker than Water" and "The September Sessions."
I'll bet you would flipping love them.
They are not all Jack, but all in the same sort of beachy genre.
(P.S. The one album that reminds me of growing up on the beach is "Pet Sounds" by the beach boys. It came out when I was sort of young, and was played NONSTOP in our house.
What a fantastic album that was and still is.)
Okay, heading to Amazon. I think I have heard of Septeber Sessions but never looked over the music. Thanks for the tip!
Thornie,
I was listening to "Thicker Than Water" on the way home from work.
That's quality music.
Im listening to samples on Amazon. I may order that. It's not going to keep me awake whilst driving tho...hahaha. Very mellow. I like September Sessions though. That has more of a funk influence.
Ever heard Sufjan Stevens' "Come on! Feel the Illinoise" --
That's a great album, too.
