Biblical wine

I stumbled on a forum for Calvinists and started reading about grape juice vs. wine theories. This site has some interesting observations on biblical wine and the number of references to wine in scripture. It got me thinking about the symbolism vs. transubstantiation. Would it matter to me if the bread and wine were symbols what they looked like or were made of? Because it matters it is hard to think in these terms. I know I have hightailed it out of a church that uses "bread" but again, because it matters. Just some great references on the wine of Israel and what the wine would have been like at the time of Christ contained on this site. For those denominational churches that insist it was grape juice, it wouldn't have lasted in the hot sun more than a few hours before spoiling. Also, too many admonitions in scripture against drinking too much wine and being drunk on wine. I have never been loopy over Welch's.

People like that amaze me. There isn't a shred of evidence for the grape juice nonsense. But they completely miss a fact that they'd love. Practically everyone at the time watered down their wine.

Interesting article. Suddenly I'm in the mood for some wine. I think I'll go pour myself a glass now. :)
