St. Augustine, most wise and cherished

If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself.

Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature.

Our bodies are shaped to bear children, and our lives are a working out of the processes of creation. All our ambitions and intelligence are beside that great elemental point.

Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.

We are certainly in a common class with the beasts; every action of animal life is concerned with seeking bodily pleasure and avoiding pain.

Unless you believe, you will not understand.

Complete abstinence is easier than perfect moderation.

What book are you? Another quiz

You're Confessions!

by St. Augustine

You're a sinner, you're a saint, you do not feel ashamed. Well, you
might feel a little ashamed of your past, but it did such a good job of teaching you
what not to do. Now you've become a devout Christian and have spent more time
ruminating on the world to come rather than worldly pleasures. Your realizations and
ability to change will bring reverence upon you despite your hedonistic transgressions.
Florida will honor you most in the end.

Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.

Another H/T to A Quiet Catholic. That was eerily on target. Spooky...especially the "teaching you what not to do."

Some more quotes. True gems.

"You can't give what you don't have."
"You have to be filled with it in order to share it."

"A good teacher is someone who is humble enough
to be set on fire with the love of God."

"A good preacher is someone who is set on fire
and the people come to watch him burn!"

"If you don't believe it...the people will know it."

~ Fr. John Corapi

"If God causes you to suffer much,
it is a sign that He certainly intends
to make you a saint."

~ Saint Ignatius

"Take care of your body as if you were going to live forever;
and take care of your soul
as if you were going to die tomorrow."

~ St. Augustine
