Will be missed....snif

Nashville, TN: “Priests receive training in celebrating Tridentine rite”
I found this article from the other day(work hasn't allowed me to peruse blogs much this week). While it is great to see this diocese benefit from Father William Fitzgerald's knowledge, it brought the realization he won't be with us much longer. His kind words and amazing homilies(he can pack more meaning and meat in a brief homily than one could imagine) have been instrumental to our family(and diocese). I hope he leaves here with some knowledge of the lives he has changed. When I was at a very dark time, spiritually, I often would weep during and after Mass at the Cathedral in Covington. Not because he has some great power, but because I could truly feel God working through him to touch those of us who needed a voice of calm and reason in this crazy diocese. I apologize for getting emotional but thoughts of where I was(spiritually) over a year ago are difficult to "stir up". Anyway, he will be missed, dearly. I know there are others whose lives have been touched by this man of faith and truth, as well. He made sense when nothing else in my life made sense. And for that I will be forever grateful. I am happy that others will benefit(in California) from his example, wisdom and faith.

i'm with you thorn, i've only been to a few of his Masses at Old St. Mary's and your parish. I just love him!! Praise God he recovered from that horrible crash.

To the abbey in Orange County, CA. Yeah, I got kinda weepy writing that post. It's a happy weepy though. I can't forget how much of a "roamin' Catholic" I was before being led to the EF at the Cathedral and now at St. Bernard's.

I first got to know Fr. William when he came to the Diocese. I was a new and young seminarian then and very impressionable. Fr. William was the persistent Master of Ceremonies for that diocese when he was found in good graces! He has become one of my close and wonderful friends, and a man that I look to for guidance and knowledge. He is a great confessor, preacher, teacher, director, and priest. I am going to miss him and so will this diocese. Though we do have to admit that though we need help, so does Orange County in CA. It is CA for peat sake, and they need all the help they can get. I just know that I will have to go visit him, because I will miss him and the Abbey makes a great retreat house for priests and seminarians. Fr. William has my prayers.
Pax Domini,
Michael

My wife and I used to give Fr. William rides to the 9:15 Novus Ordo at Old St. Mary's while he was recovering. What a wonderful man, and a holy priest.

One more question: Is he always at the TLMs on Sunday at St. Bernard's?

No, not every week. There are other priests that rotate depending on need.
