And another thing...

My son is serving weekdays at Mass(not at our parish). Today, in the procession, a "female server" tried to trip him intentionally. Do NOT ask me why I am a traditionalist(or my son for that matter). Girls do not belong on the altar. There is absolutely no reason why someone should make sport during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, EVER. I know, my Irish is showing, I am just hot over it. I will just keep plugging along and breathe a sigh of relief that we only have a few more months left. I feel sorry for him. This is the only thing he does outside of school and it means so much to him. I can't understand why girls would want to be in that position. If they weren't encouraged, they wouldn't be there. If you are encouraging a girl to serve at the altar, knock it off. I need to find a parental way of dealing with this and continue to support him. He is rather upset. (No famous girls were harmed in the photo morphing to prove how silly this notion has become).

I'm right there with you on this one. Fortunately NO girl servers in our Parish..we need to leave some jobs for the boys! God bless

+I.M.I.
The most problematic factor in this is the misconception that women can be priest. Little boys serving at the Altar is not only because the Priest needs help, but it is to inspire little boys to go on and become Holy Priests. If a girl or (old) women is serving at the altar of our Lord then this leads to the natural and logical conclusion that girls or (old) women could become holy priestesses. May the Lord change the hearts of priests who choose to allow and encourage these atrocities and other more grievous ones to occur in the sanctuaries of our Lord.

UGH, this just gets my blood boiling!! EVERY SINGLE PRIEST will tell you his vocation "thought process" started when he was an altar server. Our pastor actually said this during a homily when ALL of the altar servers were GIRLS. HELLLooo anybody paying attention here? not to mention the fact that at my parish we have well over 100 servers and a good chunk are girls, there is no room for new boys who want to serve.

This did NOT happen at St. Bernard Parish. I still need to talk to him about it and get to the bottom of what happened. He was upset when I picked him up yesterday. It seems like a no-brainer. Want vocations up in the Covington diocese? Ditch the females in robes. I can promise the girls are distracting. For a boy, it is a right of passage and meaningful. It could lead to a vocation. For girls, it is a false hope that they will be a priest "someday"(priestess, whatever). Don't give these girls a false hope. It is not fair to them, the priests they serve or those of us in the pews.

Good analysis.
Is Saint Bernard’s planning to have daily TLMs perhaps in the future?

Maybe in the future. We are still growing. The numbers are becoming most excellent. Air conditioning and an altar rail are somewhere down the road.
