In the past, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, in London, has noted that the act would allow a prince to marry "a Hindu, a Buddhist, anyone, but not a Roman Catholic" and still be king.

Anglican calls for end to Catholic monarch ban
This report seems to be all about good intentions but I believe the hurt and mistrust between England and the Roman Catholic Church. I think over all the years and years it has more to do with fear than history. This last part, in particular, is eerie:
